Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity connected to service delivery and accountability

A security incident is a service incident. It can stop approvals, expose information and put a leadership team in the position of having to explain what happened. Afrocentric IP helps organisations protect the systems their services depend on, and connect that protection to clear ownership, evidence and response.

Why this service matters

Security built around the services you deliver

Begin with the services your organisation must protect and the consequences of compromise. We help executives, service owners and ICT teams turn those concerns into security priorities, controls and responsibilities. The discussion includes people, processes, information, suppliers and technology so that protection reflects the complete service rather than a single tool.

01

Assessment and planning

An agreed engagement can address risk assessment, control review, security architecture, implementation coordination and testing.

02

Defined requirements

Identify which outcomes are required and which existing controls remain effective.

03

Ownership and evidence

We connect controls to owners and acceptance evidence so leadership can understand current security capability and the improvements still needed.

04

Coordinated implementation

Where a control depends on another team or provider, that contribution becomes part of the delivery scope.

Our service capabilities

Risk-based protection and response

A cybersecurity engagement starts with the information and services whose compromise would have the greatest consequences. We connect risk assessment, practical controls, monitoring and response so that security supports decisions before, during and after an incident.

01

Identify risks to critical services

We help identify critical information and services, assess the threats and weaknesses that affect them and record the resulting risks. The analysis gives management a basis for agreeing security priorities and acceptable levels of risk.

02

Design and implement controls

We support controls, configuration and secure architecture suited to the organisation. The approach considers networks, endpoints, identities, applications and data so protection reflects the complete operating service.

03

Monitor, detect and respond

Where continuous visibility is needed, we help connect monitoring and incident response arrangements to the services they protect. Detection, escalation and recovery should support the same service objectives.

04

Test, assure and improve

We help organisations examine whether controls work together and use the findings to guide improvement. Assessments and exercises should produce useful evidence and assigned actions rather than a simple completed status.

Cybersecurity

How we address your requirements

We connect risk assessment, practical controls, monitoring and incident response so security supports the service before, during and after an incident.

01

Identify the critical services and what protects them

Risk assessment starts with the services your organisation delivers and the information they use.

02

Make security accountabilities clear

We help turn priorities into named owners, practical procedures and decisions that can be traced.

03

Agree response and recovery objectives

Recovery Time Objective, or RTO, defines the target restoration period for a service after an incident.

04

Test controls and close practical gaps

A tabletop exercise can test decisions and communication; technical testing can show whether controls hold up in practice.

05

Protect information wherever it is used

Staff, suppliers and systems all handle information, and each needs appropriate access and safeguards.

06

Prioritise improvements that can be delivered

Security findings need a route to implementation.

Built for critical and regulated environments

Public sector and regulated organisations

Modern public sector building
Security for essential public services

01 / Public institutions

Cybersecurity for public institutions

For a public institution, cybersecurity must be assessed against the service it enables and the institution’s applicable requirements, including the protection of citizen and institutional information.

A vulnerability scan or a control checklist shows part of the picture. Neither by itself proves that an organisation is protected, or replaces a risk assessment tied to the services it delivers.

We start by reviewing the current environment, the requirements that apply and the outcomes your organisation needs.

02 / Regulated industries

Security follows the critical service

For a bank, priorities might include payment systems and customer data; for a mine, operational technology and site communications.

Example protected services

  • Banking Payment systems and customer data
  • Mining Operational technology and site communications
The right security approach follows the service, its exposure to compromise and its dependencies.

From risk to implementation

Putting security arrangements into practice

The engagement can connect risk assessment, security strategy, control implementation and testing. We agree the services included and the owners who validate priorities. The outputs may include a risk assessment, control and dependency maps, usable procedures and an improvement register.

01

Risk Assessment

Agree critical services and the owners who validate priorities.

02

Security Strategy

Establish which controls require implementation.

03

Control Implementation

Deliver usable controls, procedures and monitoring.

04

Testing & Improvement

Connect delivery, testing and an improvement register.

Validation, evidence and handover

Security control acceptance and ownership

Agree what each security deliverable must establish: validated risk priorities, working controls, usable procedures or a tested response. Involve the service owners in reviewing the result. A control review and a technical test answer different questions, so the scope should identify the evidence expected from each. Unresolved work remains visible in the improvement register rather than being absorbed into a general completion statement.

ACCEPTANCE EVIDENCE

Evidence can include

  • Risk register with named owners
  • Control and configuration review record
  • Test and exercise findings
  • Validated response priorities

Scope matters. Deliverables and tests are confirmed in the project scope. Your team confirms business priorities and validates outcomes that depend on how the service is used.

Ownership after delivery

Handover and ongoing responsibilities

Handover should leave security owners with working controls, clearly assigned tasks and an improvement record. Identify staff awareness, access reviews, monitoring and future testing responsibilities. Supporting infrastructure work needs its own acceptance and should remain linked to the service it protects.

CYBERSECURITY

Begin with the services your organisation must protect and the consequences of compromise.

Begin with important services, sensitive information and the current control position. Identify consequential exposure and existing findings before selecting tools or commissioning work. This helps the assessment address a clear organisational need.
A vulnerability assessment identifies and evaluates weaknesses. Penetration testing examines exploitable paths within an authorised scope. Both need operating boundaries, validated findings and a route to remediation rather than a report alone.
Assess service risks, monitoring coverage, internal skills and response needs first. The appropriate arrangement may use internal capability, a provider or a combination. Responsibilities and authority need to be clear in each case.
A SOC is an operating capability involving people, processes and technology. SIEM supports collection and analysis of security event data. A SIEM platform does not independently establish investigation, escalation or response authority.
Validate the finding, prioritise treatment and assign an accountable owner. Record dependencies and interim safeguards where necessary, then retest material corrections. Remaining risk should follow the organisation’s approved decision route.
The agreed scope identifies monitoring, investigation, escalation, containment and recovery contributions. Do not assume those responsibilities are identical. Recovery may also require continuity owners, infrastructure teams and protected data arrangements.
